Preschool Teacher – São Paulo

Private tutor (fluent English, full-time, nursery/kindergarten level)

International family in Alphaville looking for private tutors for 3-4 children at nursery school / pre-school / kindergarten level.

Requirements:

• Native English, by which we mean: candidates’ English should be such that they’d be comfortable and qualified to teach full-time in English at a school in an English speaking country such as the USA or UK.
• Prior experience teaching nursery / kindergarten / primary in English as main classroom teacher at a top quality school.
• University degree
• Formal education/teacher training
• Passionate about education
• Enjoy & have a talent for working with young children
• Proactive, organized, entrepreneurial, self-driven, as you will not be supported by a big bureaucracy
• Portuguese is optional
• Already living in Alphaville/São Paulo is a plus, relocation for international candidates a possibility.

The work:

• Support the children learning to speak in English and growing their vocabulary (father speaks in English, but mother & most other adults around them speak in Portuguese), developing a love of books and, when appropriate, skills to prepare for literacy & maths.
• The essence in some sense is the same as that of a nursery/kindergarten teacher at an English-speaking school, but with fewer pupils, though with a range of 3 years between the eldest and youngest.
• Expectation is that children will over time be well prepared to enter top selective UK schools at 7+, for example.
• Not a nanny (the children have a nanny focused on things like bathing, feeding, etc.), though tenderness in dealing with such young children is important.
• Teaching initially at home.
• If successful, moving to an offsite location and leading the set-up of an international nursery for more children is a possibility, which would provide exceptional financial and professional growth opportunities.
