We are seeking a Director Credit And Collections in our Sao Paulo. This role will oversee the collections and credit management activities for the LatAm markets. The role includes the development and implementation of strategies to minimize bad debt and improve the overall DSO while maintaining strong customer relations. The role will lead a team of collections professionals and will work closely with the sales management, customer service, and finance leaders.
This role is a part of the customer to cash extended leadership team, you will Advocate for customers and be the single point-of-contact for strategic external and internal customers, ensuring each one’s back-office needs are properly translated, understood and carried out. This role is a champion for our customers delivering the best possible experience.
About The Role
- Managing and leading strategic projects related to billing, payments, and collections, including process improvements and innovation initiatives.
- Acting as the key liaison between the regional leadership team and other departments on matters related to billing, payments, and collections.
- Identifying opportunities for process improvements and implementing best practices across the region.
- Overseeing the development and execution of strategic projects aimed at enhancing efficiency and effectiveness in billing, payments, and collections processes.
- Providing regular reports and updates to the LatAm leadership team on key performance indicators, project progress, and strategic initiatives.
- Develop and enforce a robust collections strategy that aligns with company policies and complies with regional regulations.
- Oversee the credit risk assessment process and establish credit limits for new and existing customers.
- Monitor and analyze the aging of receivables, and ensure timely collection of payments.
- Lead, train, and mentor the collections team across LatAm, ensuring a high level of competence and professionalism.
- Work with the legal department to manage delinquent accounts and initiate legal proceedings if necessary.
- Collaborate with the sales and customer service teams to resolve disputes and maintain positive customer relationships.
- Prepare and present regular reports on collections activities and performance metrics to senior management.
- Stay informed of changes in credit and collections laws and practices across different countries within Europe and Asia.
- Manage relationships with external collection agencies and service providers.
- Participate in the development of the annual budgets and forecasts for the receivables portfolio.
About You
- Proven track record of working with senior leaders in Sales. Finance and Service.
- Fluent in Spanish, Portugues and English.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience in a senior collections/order to cash role, preferably with responsibility for multiple countries.
- Strong understanding of credit and collections practices and laws in LatAm.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Exceptional negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment and manage cross-functional teams.
- Proficient in the use of ERP systems and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Willingness to travel as required by the job.
