Introduction: Join our client’s team as a DevOps/Platform Engineer and play a pivotal role in our ongoing technological transformation. You will be working within a dynamic team, guiding development groups as they create and automate cloud infrastructure. This role involves building and maintaining a central platform and developing solutions that benefit our R&D teams across multiple cloud environments including AWS, Azure, and GCP.

Responsibilities

• Harden software solutions by guiding the development teams through the creation and automation of cloud infrastructure.
• Build, maintain, and improve our central platform to support R&D teams.
• Implement best practices in software development and infrastructure management.
• Develop scalable and secure cloud infrastructure solutions.
• Write automation scripts for provisioning, configuration, and orchestration of cloud resources.
• Utilize a diverse mix of tools and services across multiple cloud platforms to enhance functionality and performance.
• Contribute to internal developer portals and platforms to streamline operations and improve efficiency.
• Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using tools like Azure DevOps, GitLab, or Argo CD.
• Ensure system security through adherence to best practices in cloud environments.

Required Skills And Experience

• Practical experience with Site Reliability Engineering and Kubernetes, including Kubernetes Operators.
• Expertise in containerization across different platforms, operating systems, and CPU types.
• Familiarity with Cloud Native tools and their application across various cloud providers.
• Proficient in at least one programming language such as Javascript, Java, or Python.
• Internal Developer Portals and Platforms
• Understanding of feature flags, Blue/Green, Canary, and Ring release strategies and tools.
• Experience with monitoring, observability, and MTTR management.
• Knowledge of cloud provider services and capabilities, and experience managing hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
• Dominion of the English language is a MUST

Desirable Skills

• Exposure to cloud-native transformation and migration best practices.
• Knowledge of micro-service and serverless architectures.
• Understanding of service meshes and global cloud optimization.
• Experience with the monetization of SaaS platforms.

In addition to the divisions they operate a central R&D group under the direction of their CTO that they call the Innovation Hub. This group provides both hardware and software technologies. They aim to create innovative solutions where their core competencies in secure enterprise systems, simulation, AI, reality capture, design and operational technologies overlap in the areas of autonomous vehicles & fleets, construction, fabrication, mining, agriculture and smart cities. Our client’s software environment is very diverse, consisting of everything from FPGA Firmware in their own hardware devices to Cloud Native SaaS platforms. Some of their software has been in use for 30 years and some is on the very edge of AI/ML and AR/VR research.

Each of their cloud-based products is at different stages between Lift-and-Shift and Cloud Native. Your role as part of the Cloud team in the Innovation Hub would be to help guide their divisional development teams, using best practice, through the various stages of cloud transformation, while optimising the synergies between their solutions to increasing reuse and improve interoperability across the whole organisation. Being cloud-agnostic, they would prefer to focus, where sensible, on Cloud Native tools that operate across vendors, but they are also pragmatists.
